The Ore Magistrate
“In a world of scarcity, we gather and store. Holding fast, until we can hold no more.”
- The Ore Magistrate’s corporate motto.
Renowned for its large-scale employment programs, the Ore Magistrate (Ore'M) held a formidable presence in the realm. Thousands of workers were led into the mines, but only a fraction ever returned. The Arigen from surrounding villages found themselves compelled to accept the company's dominance, as they depended on the magical resources it supplied.
The mines yielded precious gems, pulsating with magic and attracting powerful curses. These coveted treasures promised immense power and transformation to those who possessed them. Even the most skilled thief couldn't resist their allure, deeming the risk of personal sacrifice worthwhile.
OLD
The Ore’M was well known for its mass employment programs. Thousands taken to the mines, hundreds return. The Arigen of the surrounding villages were forced to accept the company’s presence. They needed their supply as much as any magic-born in the city. The gems—sources of magic and beacons for curses—were worth it. The chance to become.. more. Even to a nimble thief’s hand—a likely sacrifice—worth it.
Stone Warden Er’un
Stone Warden Er'un Tasked with maintaining order and control within the mines, Stone Warden Er'un dealt swift punishment to those who defied his authority. Born from the channeled chaos of the deepcore mines of Arigensa, he possessed an uncanny ability to foresee the intentions of those around him. Cunning and relentless, he could anticipate theft or treachery long before it ever occurred.
Initially conceived as guardians for prisons and labor camps, the Stone Wardens were eventually mass-produced in vials and vats by the thousands. Fueled by the potent energies of a second core hidden within the Ore'M's underground laboratories, these enigmatic beings represented the pinnacle of mimicry and control.
The Stone Wardens' ability to maintain order proved immensely profitable for both the Ore Magistrate and the factions that supported it. The byproduct of their creation often fetched a higher price than the magical stones mined from the earth, driving demand and justifying their continued production.
However, the Stone Wardens' power came at a steep cost. Every cycle, a grim toll was exacted, a necessary sacrifice to maintain the delicate balance of control and prosperity.
As the Ore Magistrate expanded its influence and control over the magical resources, tensions simmered within the surrounding communities. The Arigen, struggling to coexist with the corporation, found themselves caught between their own needs for the magical gems and the harsh realities of the mining industry. The allure of power and the promise of transformation drove many to accept the company's authority, yet whispers of rebellion grew louder with each passing day.
The Stone Wardens, once the embodiment of control and order, now represented an oppressive force, stifling the dreams and aspirations of those who toiled in the mines. As the Ore Magistrate's power grew unchecked, so did the determination of those who longed for a brighter future.
In the shadow of the Ore Magistrate's sprawling empire, a resistance began to form. Disparate factions, once divided by their desires for power and control, found common ground in their struggle against the tyranny of the corporation. United by their shared determination to reclaim their land and their freedom, the seeds of rebellion began to take root.
As the battle lines were drawn, the Ore Magistrate and its Stone Wardens prepared to face the rising tide of opposition. In the midst of the brewing conflict, the true cost of power and the weight of sacrifice would be laid bare, forcing all to confront the question: What price are they willing to pay for the promise of magic and transformation?
OLD
The Stone Warden’s tasks were simple. Keep order, keep control, punish when you fail. A force of channeled chaos-conjured first in the deepcore mines of Arigensa-to track futures and memories. He knows if you’re going to steal.. long before you do.
Their kind designed for prisons and work camps then later bred in vials and vats by the thousands. Fueled by the second core in labs of the Ore’M underbelly. Their form of mimic’d control was profitable beyond either faction could first predict. Their byproduct sold better then the stones the mines produced most days. Their focus had a cost though. Paid each cycle.
